The Village
The Village
Fodome Amele is a village located outside of Hohoe, Ghana. There are roughly 200 families living there with over 800 children. Villagers live on less than $1 per day and 40% of the people are illiterate.
Tragically, 5% of Fodome Amele’s children die before their 5th birthday.
We have been working with the village since August of 2012. Our efforts include:
Distributing more than 500 outfits
Fixing the village well to provide clean drinking water
Distributing basic medicine
Starting a soccer program for the kids with 5 teams, 2 of which are all girls. In Ghana, girls are not encouraged to play sports, and we are changing that mindset.
